Relatives Coming Out of the Woodwork

P.Pie’s baby shower is just a week away and I am amazed at the number of family members coming from out of town – Moms, Dads, Step Moms, Sisters, cousins, second cousins, second cousins twice removed.

Seriously my phone has been ringing off the hook with relatives looking for a place to crash.

Most surprising is my father, The Duke.

Not surprising that he would want to stay with us; rather, that he would want to come to the shower. Actually, I sure it’s Pin who wants to come to the shower, but it is unlike my father to give in to such whimsies of the heart.

I know, I know, fathers are not supposed to be given to whimsies. Generally my father is so not given that he forces that 'No Whimsy Allowed' rule on to those around him. As an example, Duke & Pin didn’t come to our wedding - it was in SoCal and they were in Florida.

And yes, Pin, I know it was all dad’s doing. It’s typical of him.

P.Pie was hurt for a while over that one. But it was over seven years ago and time really does heal all wounds.

Apparently grandkids really do soften even the hardest of hearts. Not only are they coming for the shower, they’re staying for a few days.

Perhaps I’ll put him to work. I’m sure there’ll be snow left to shovel. Or maybe I can get him to finish the nursery. And the spare bedroom-slash-office.

"WE" would love to help with the nursery! I think it would be a small jesture to make up for missing the wedding. :-) Get your "to do" list ready.
P.S. That is IF we can get there. The weather forecast is not looking good but hopefully by by Thursday things will be clearing up.
