Blogroll, ColecoVision, Lite-Brite and Weeble Wobbles (but they don’t fall down)
Today’s topic comes from the good folks over at MetroDad. MetroDad had a great post about new daddy blogs - a sort of rundown of the blogs, with all the things that make them great. One of the comments on that post came from Jules at Life with O.G.. She spoke about great childhood things like ColecoVision and Lite-Brites (sorry guys, this is the proper spelling).
The thought of classic toys made me think of another classic children’s toy, the Weeble Wobble.
But before I get into that, I want to talk about blogging.
My 30-day mark of blogging (do I get a chip or something?) is coming up in a few days and I thought I make an observation or two.
Okay. Who knew blogging was so addictive and on so many levels? The writing, the reading, the searching for similar blogs…*wow*
Nearly everyday I add another blog to my Google homepage. Because of MetroDad’s post, I added four today. Which brings me to my next point.
My blogroll was woefully low.
When I first started my blog, I grabbed a couple of sites off the internet, read some posts, and put them on my blogroll. As folks commented on my posts, I tried to add them. [sidebar – I try to reply to all comments, is that proper etiquette?]
My blogroll’s title was “Other New Daddy Blogs”. So I didn’t know where to put blogs by non-daddies. I was reading and getting comments from non-Daddy bloggers, but had no place to put them.
Those days are over.
I have added all the blogs that I am currently following and broke out a section for non-Daddy bloggers. If your name is not on the list, email me or post a comment and I will do my best to get you an add.
Back to the Weebles.
What the hell was Hasbro thinking about? The Weebles were egg shaped, but about half the size of an egg. Maybe less. Perfect for sticking in the mouth and choking. They should have been called Weeble Swallows.
To be fair, I had a Weeble McDonald’s restaurant (hello? commercialism?) & a house with several weeble characters (including a weeble dog) and never choked to death.
Not to mention the Little Tikes family (remember the farmhouse and the silo?). I managed not to choke on those either.

Thanks for the link. The blogging thing is new for us - I set one up for L.A. Mommy, too - because we were always talking about how we'd love to "spread the word" or get questions answered... so the blog was our best bet! And, we're planning on having another child soon, so it will be the perfect way to cover it all.

I think the Weebles were egg-shaped so you could poop them out easily after being swallowed.

Actually, I thought they were egg shaped to act as the perfect esophagus stopper.
I haven't seen a Weeble Wobble like that in ages! Thanks for the memories. We bought newer versions and my boys played with them quite often.
But I DO have the family pictured! (By the way they are Fisher-Price, not Little Tykes.) I found them (along with their house and cars and furniture) at a rummage sale and HAD TO HAVE THEM. I have 3 sons, and, miraculously, all 3 have survived playing with them! (Yes, boys play pretend, that includes playing house.)

I stand corrected on the Little People. Teyare indeed from Fisher-Price. According to this link, they made a Mr. Hooper, Gordon, and Susan Little People. I want those! IF you know anyone selling them, please let me know.
