Toes

The Barron clan – at least my particular branch of it – tend to have prehensile toes.

That’s not to say that our big toes are offset like a chimp’s; rather, we tend to pick things up with our toes. Pens, pencils, car keys, sections of the newspaper, remotes… basically we can pick up anything smaller than a breadbox.

At first, it might be a little off-putting, particularly to the uninitiated (read women). After the first five or six years, they almost come to accept it. Almost.

Although truthfully, P.Pie is not much for handling things that I’ve picked up with my toes. Her loss.

Anyway, I think The Squeaker has the Barron toes. The photo says it all; she curls her toes, claps her feet, and rubs them together. Soon, with proper guidance, she’ll be picking up her pacifier and trying for her bottle.

Fortunately, P.Pie doesn’t leave me alone with her very often.

I'm with you. Why bend over when you can pick something up with your toes.

Yours isn't the only family that has something genetic going on with toes. Mine does, too.

For the record, I'm female and I pick up things with my toes, occassionally. But now that I'm pregnant again, I'm doing it more. I mean, c'mon... there's a bump that interferes with my ability to bend over.

Love the blog and the new banner. That pic rocks.

My hubby always teases me for having "monkey toes"... I think they're rather handy!
